Lamborghini, the Italian automobile manufacturer is taking the first step towards the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project, named the Space Key, is a work that was created by a lone artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a tangible item that links to exclusive digital artwork that can be accessed via a QR code on the back. The project is a limited edition and will be auctioned off over the next few weeks.

The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials that Lamborghini sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of research project. The carbon fiber was crafted into a unique artwork after it returned to Earth. The physical object is equipped with an NFT serial code that links to the digital artwork through a QR code on the rear.

For those who do not aware, NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to an digital asset such as a photo, video or any other recording. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and scarcity as well as trackability of their tokens on the internet.

Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini will take this unique approach to art to the next level. Over the next few weeks Lamborghini will be sharing details about the exciting project, including the name of the unidentified artist and a timetable for the auction.

The physical element of Space Key

Following a string of social media posts that tease something related to space, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has entered the world of tokens that are non-fungible (NFT) with an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with a mysterious artist and will be auctioned off in a few short weeks. Its base is comprised of an advanced carbon fibre composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a study. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the base of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital artwork through a QR code on its backside. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique identifiers that can be recorded on distributed ledgers such as the Blockchain and linked to digital assets such as images. This is a hot topic for people with more money than they have common sense. It was just a matter of time before automakers decided to take advantage of.

Space Key is made up of five units. It was developed using a carbon fiber composite, which was sent to the ISS back in the year 2019. Each NFT will come with an QR code that connects it to an exclusive digital art work by the same artist. More details will be shared in the coming weeks and days including the artist's name along with the digital artwork and how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, luxury car maker Lamborghini finally revealed its first venture for non-fungible tokens (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five physical objects that unlocks a unique digital artwork by an unidentified artist. Developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the  collector's piece is limited to five units and will soon be auctioned off.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth it was stamped with a QR code that links it to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner utilized an inflatable camera that had a lens to capture the individual images, which were then combined into the final photo. The result is a photo that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the event hasn't been revealed yet.

The auction

Lamborghini the premium automaker, has entered the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the slogan "to the moon". The project was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT that is made up of carbon fiber composite material that traveled to the International Space Station in 2019 to conduct research. The actual sample was cut into five unique pieces that connect to exclusive digital artworks designed exclusively by an artist who has yet to be revealed through the QR code.

The auctions, which be held between February 1 and February 4, will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be bid on by making an online registration. Each one will be sold by itself and the winner will be awarded a digital image designed by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments that the Space Key passed during its flight through space.

In the next few weeks, we'll be revealing all the details about the Space Key as well as the digital artworks accompanying it. This includes the identity of the mysterious creator, as well as how to purchase these incredible artworks. Follow Lamborghini on Instagram for all of the details you require!
